Park Hyatt Dubai
Dubai Creek Club Street
Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
+971 4 6021234
Overall Rating 4/5
One of the oldest, yet best maintained 5 star hotels in Dubai. Located in the “old” part of Dubai, Deira, this Hyatt property is a great oasis for relaxation and base for exploring the main sights of Dubai while enjoying luxury, and upscale service and facilities.
The property stretches along the Dubai Creek. The Dubai International Airport is only a 15 minutes taxi drive away and major sights such as the Gold and Spice Souk, the old quarter Bastakiya and the shopping mall Deira City Centre and Festival City are only a short distance away.
Even though the Downtown area with the iconic Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall is located on the other side of the Creek, the bridge right next to the hotel offers a fast connection.
The Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club provides couple of great restaurants and panoramic bars, only a few steps away.
If you plan to visit the area of Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Ibn Battuta Mall, the public beaches or consider day trips to Abu Dhabi, this property might not be ideal as it is quite far off and traffic getting from and to those destinations will be too much of a hassle.
Style & Character 5/5
The hotel is beautifully designed in Greek, Mediterranean and Middle Easters style. The white, low rise buildings with hints of blue colors remind of pictures from the Greek island Santorini.
Neutral tones resonate throughout the hotel, providing a calm and cool aesthetic atmosphere. Each of the hotel’s restaurants has its own color, light and energy, which creates an exciting ambience.
The palm tress, lush gardens and small courtyards throughout the hotel make this place a haven for relaxation.
And even though the property has more than 200 rooms and is surrounded by main roads and traffic, you still won’t feel that you are in a busy hotel and close to city life.
Built in 2005 (which is considered old in Dubai), couple of renovations kept the hotel extremely well maintained.
Service & Facilities 4/5
The service is overall great and the trained Hyatt staff is doing their best to deliver 5 star service. Especially the personalized check in and room escort do make a difference.
Small things such as cold towels upon check in, detailed and proactive explanation of the food menu at the restaurants and flexibility for extra requests for in-room amenities give the extra touch.
The hotel facilities keep up to five star level. The highlights are the beautiful setting of the pool, free of charge group class activities and complementary, fast and reliable WiFi.
However, if you are coming to Dubai for a beach holiday, this hotel is not the right place for you. There is no beach access.
Unfortunately the hotel does not offer shuttle service to beaches or shopping malls.
Other things that can be improved are the pool service (some cold towels or free water would be nice), adding nail and hair treatments to the spa menu and reconsidering the spa menu prices (even for a five star hotel, prices are on the high side).
Room category booked: Park King Room (Standard category)
All 223 guestrooms offer stunning views across the Dubai Creek from their balconies and terraces. The rooms are very spacious with separate seating areas, working desk, walk-in wardrobes and luggage storage facilities. The floor to ceiling windows make the room very bright.
Everything you need is in the room such as cosmetic amenities, power adapter, DVD player, ironing facilities, Nepresso® machine, complimentary water and kettle.
If you miss anything, the reception is very helpful getting it for you.
The beds are extremely comfortable and there is even a pillow menu available in case you have any allergies.
I personally love the free standing bathtub that comes with sponge and bath salts (there is a separate rain shower, if you prefer that).
The wings of the hotel are widely spread and it is easy to get lost. I’d recommend to be escorted to the room when checking in, this will help you finding your way around on your own during the stay.
Food and Beverages 4/5
The restaurant Cafe Arabesque offers buffet breakfast in the mornings and à la carte Middle Eastern cuisine for lunch and dinner.
Breakfast is good, but does not keep up with other Hyatt hotels. While they offer many bread, pastries and fresh fruit options, only limited hot, cheese and cereals items are available.
I’d recommend to have the breakfast early in the mornings as it can get really crowded in the small breakfast room before the end of breakfast timings.
Alternatively you can enjoy à la carte breakfast at The Lounge, the patisserie that is open 24 hours.
In addition to Cafe Arabesque, the hotel has two more restaurants serving dinner: Traiteur, offering modern French cuisine and Thai Kitchen serving delicious Thai food.
The front setting offering Marina panorama views makes Traiteur a romantic dinner spot while Thai Kitchen invites with a warm colors, soft lightning and a colorful presentation of two open kitchens.
It’s great to see that Thai Kitchen does not only serve the well known dishes like “Pad Thai”, but also unique creations. Portions are small so that you can try out different dishes in one meal.
Both restaurants also offer Friday brunch packages.
After dinner you can relax at the Shisha Lounge located at the terrace outside of Cafe Arabesque or have some drinks at the stunning Terrace Bar. The Terrace Bar sits right by the Creek and offers panoramic views in a chilled atmosphere. They also have ladies night every Tuesday with two free glasses of bubbly for ladies.
Value for money 4/5
The design and beautiful settings of the hotel along with overall great service are the big advantage of the hotel. Park Hyatt is a unique property and sets itself apart from many other hotels.
During the summer months you can get great deals starting from USD 150 including breakfast. However, during the high season, rates can peak up to USD 830 which is quite high as you can find much lower rates at new hotels, offering beach access.
Who is this accommodation for?
Leisure travelers and families that are looking for a luxurious experience in a relaxed and green surrounding while wanting to explore the sights of Dubai (Northern side). Again, if you come for a beach holiday, this is not the right property for you.
